Nevamar brand - Fire Retardant Laminates HPDL

Nevamar Fire Retardant Laminate is manufactured for use on interior surfaces where a fire retardant decorative wear and stain resistant surface is required. Durable and easy to maintain, these laminates are commonly used in elevators, public building construction, cabinetry, store fixtures and numerous other applications. UL-listed Nevamar Fire Retardant Laminates are available in two grades, in solids, woodgrains, and abstracts, with a choice of various finishes.

Class I Nevamar Fire Retardant Laminate meets requirements of major Building Codes and the following:
U.S. Navy - MIL - P-17171E (SH), May 25,1990
TYPE I - Horizontal General Purpose
TYPE IV - Horizontal Fire Retardant Grade
NOTE: TYPE IV will refer to MIL - STD - 1623 requiring a UL label on each sheet of laminate.
U.S. Coast Guard 164.012 Specification for all laminate used on passenger vessels, registered in the U.S. or picking up passengers in
U.S. ports. Horizontal Fire Retardant Grade only.
F. A. R. 25.853 Airplanes. Interior trim on passenger planes carrying more then 6 passengers requires Fire Retardant Grade.

Environmental Description

Atlanta, GA, November 8, 2005 – The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute has awarded GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification to Nevamar® high-pressure decorative laminates and metal surfaces. The Nevamar laminates were scientifically tested to the GREENGUARD Standards for Low Emitting Products. Earning GREENGUARD Certification means that professionals and homeowners alike can trust the Nevamar decorative surfaces to create spaces free of harmful pollutants.

Finished Product Options

Finishes: Typically, Nevamar high pressure laminates are stocked in textured (T) finish. Some stock line items come standard in another finish as indicated in the product guide. Other finish options are available upon request under made-to-order guidelines. Typical finish for patterns and woodgrains are shown in Table 1. Contact your NEVAMAR representative or distributor on optional finish availability. Black laminate will have a natural core in Fire Retardant Grade. Black core items are not available in Fire Retardant Grade.

Cost varies according to locale, quantity, patterns and finish; however, the cost would be approximately 1.2 times the price of standard surface material.

Ideal Applications

Usage
Nevamar® Fire Retardant Laminate must be used as listed. That is, adhesive and substrate cannot be changed. Each order of Nevamar Fire Retardant Grade is shipped to the customer with the UL label affixed. These Class I panels are typically used for corridors, stairwells, entries, elevators, fixtures, cabinetry in multifamily dwellings, educational buildings, religious buildings, hospitals, public entertainment buildings, hotels and motels, restaurants and shopping centers. Specific uses for this product include: Wood doors (solid
core), paneling, walls, store fixtures, counters, elevator interiors, partitions, compartments and cubicles, or wherever fire retardant surfacing is required or desirable.

Limitations: High pressure laminates are not recommended for exterior use. The laminate should not be bonded to plaster board, gypsum board, plaster, concrete blocks or similar materials.

MAINTENANCE
Use a damp cloth or sponge and a mild soap or detergent to clean the surface. Difficult stains may require use of organic solvents such as alcohol, acetone, ketone, (MEK), lacquer thinner or paint solvent.

NEVAMAR® brand Fire Retardant Grade Laminate is manufactured for use on interior, horizontal and vertical surfaces where a flame and fire resistant product is required. UL- listed NEVAMAR Fire Retardant Laminate is available in 0.048” (1.2mm) Horizontal Grade (HGF) and 0.032” (0.8mm) Vertical Grade (VGF).
