Roseburg’s DuraGard is made with a high-quality paper saturated with phenolic resin solids and overlaid on our exterior-grade plywood panels. The “B” Plugged Fir veneer beneath the overlay provides a smooth surface ideal for painting. DuraGard is manufactured with waterproof resins that meet or exceed all veneer-grade, adhesion, and
construction requirements of PS 1-95.

CONSTRUCTION
DuraGard plywood is stronger, more rigid, and less subject to creep than composition products. Innerplies and backs are all “C” grade or better as outlined in PS 1-95. The overlay is bonded to Roseburg’s own “B” Plugged Fir substrate for a smooth, paintable surface. DuraGard may be specified on one or two sides.

Finished Product Options

Finishing
DuraGard should always be painted when exposed to weather or humid conditions. To ensure good adhesion, use a primer coat produced by the same manufacturer as the finish coat and follow the manufacturer’s specific application recommendations. Panels must be dry when applying the finish. Panels intended for exterior exposure should be edge sealed with two heavy coats of top-quality exterior paint formulated for wood. Edges are most easily sealed when panels
are in a stack. Roseburg offers factory priming on one side, two sides, and edges.

Storage
Because DuraGard is usually finished, it is important to
keep the product dry before use. Roseburg recommends storing
DuraGard in a warehouse or under roof. If stored outdoors,
units should be covered loosely with a protective material.

Meeting the Standards:
All APA and PSI / Pittsburgh Testing plywood and other woodbased
panel products are grade stamped under any one or combination of PS 195, PS 292, PRP108, FHA UM 62b, or FHA 40 standards, based
on the type of product. These standards include grades of veneer, glue bond requirements, thickness tolerances, span ratings, testing procedures, identification and stamping guidelines, etc. R.F.P. guarantees its products to follow these guidelines.

Specifically, Roseburg Forest Product’s meet the paper overlay, construction, veneer grade, workmanship, dimension tolerance, and glue bond requirements for exterior grade panels as outlined in the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Voluntary Products Standard for Construction and Industrial Plywood, or PS 195. In addition, this product code specifies testing, identification, and stamping guidelines that R.F.P.’s Medium Density Overlay Plywood follow.
